Jakama Lodge does not provide a wedding celebrant or wedding photographer; it is the wedding couple’s responsibility to organise these services.
What is the best time to have my ceremony?
At Jakama Lodge, ceremony timings are flexible and shaped around the season to ensure your elopement feels effortless and beautifully lit. For intimate elopements, we’ll work with you to choose a time that suits your preferred style — whether you’re dreaming of a soft morning glow, golden-hour magic, or a relaxed afternoon moment.
For couples planning a slightly larger ceremony, these are usually held later in the afternoon when the light is perfect and the property feels calm and unhurried. In the summer months, when long New Zealand evenings stretch out beautifully, ceremonies naturally begin a little later. During the winter months, when daylight is shorter, we typically start earlier in the afternoon to capture the best natural light, ensuring your photos look amazing.
No matter the season, we’ll guide you to the ideal time for a seamless, memorable celebration at Jakama Lodge.
How do you Secure Your Special Day at Jakama Lodge
To secure your elopement or wedding date at Jakama Lodge, we require a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 NZD. This small step ensures your day is officially yours — no stress, no double-bookings, just peace of mind.
The remaining balance for your celebration will be invoiced 45 days before your event, providing you with ample time to settle. If there are any additional costs related to styling, accommodation, or last-minute magic, these will be invoiced shortly after your stay
What happens if the weather doesn’t play along?
At Jakama Lodge, your day is never at the mercy of the weather. If the skies decide not to cooperate, we have plenty of beautiful indoor and covered spaces to ensure your ceremony still feels magical, intimate, and relaxed.

How big can my wedding party be?
For elopements at Jakama Lodge, we keep things beautifully intimate. To preserve the relaxed and personal atmosphere our lodge is known for, elopement celebrations are limited to a maximum of 15 guests.
This ensures you have the space, privacy, and calm environment that make small weddings so special — without the pressure or formality of a larger event.
